The Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center
The Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center will be a global center for the creation and exchange of art, ideas and culture. The Center is envisioned as a new kind of arts space that redefines a new cultural and social destination in the heart of Lower Manhattan. A unique home for theater, dance, music, film, and chamber and new opera, the Perelman Center will incite creativity, be ever-changing and dynamic, and reinvent the experience of art and performance.
Two Twelve is working closely with the client and project team: the Perelman Center, Charcoalblue, Davis Brody Bond, REX, and Sciame Construction, among others for the site on the World Trade Center campus. Featuring several dynamic and flexible spaces, the Perelman Center is organized into three levels – Public (bottom), Performer (middle), and Play (top). The Play Level holds three auditoria (499-, 250-, and 99-person) and a rehearsal room. Using innovative and unprecedented architectural elements, the auditoria can be combined to form seven additional, unique performance spaces – totaling eleven possible configurations.
In ensuring the flexibility and connectivity of the spaces for visitors, spectators, and staff, Two Twelve is currently developing strategically integrated wayfinding and signage designs that accommodate for the architectural fluidity while embodying excellence in design in ways that contribute to the Perelman Center experience and defies expectations.
