Shelby Farms Park
Shelby Farms Park is a 4,500 acre former penal farm and agricultural area located 12 miles from downtown Memphis. Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (SFPC) undertook a comprehensive master planning and fund-raising effort that set out to transform this extraordinarily diverse landscape into a landmark Park. The Shelby Farms Park Master Plan, prepared by James Corner Field Operations, provides the vision and physical framework for the evolution of the 4,500-acres into a city-defining park that promotes principles of ecological sustainability, fitness and healthy living, food and energy. Two Twelve was invited to develop a Wayfinding Master Plan that provides an organizational framework for locating signage across the Park and Greenline landscapes, building on the framework developed in the Shelby Farms Park Master Plan. The result is a distinctive and consistent wayfinding and signage program for the park system that complements the character of the Park and appeals to a wide variety of visitors. Two Twelve created a sustainable solution that can be easily updated as the Park continues to expand. The result is a flexible system that is user-friendly, accessible, and enhances visitor engagement with the Park.
