New Amsterdam Theatre
In conjunction with Hardy Holzman Pfieffer’s renovation of the landmark Art Nouveau New Amsterdam Theatre, Two Twelve created signage that employed a distinctive custom typeface reminiscent of the theater's early history. For the “front of house” we designed identification and directional signs with oval etched glass panels resting on decorative brackets that recall the details of the theater's early construction. The backstage signage system honors the names of the legendary stars that once populated the theater, from Will Rogers to W.C. Fields to Fanny Brice. The finished designs were a hit, praised by the press as a stunning renovation of signage from a bygone era.
