City of Chicago
Chicago, Illinois, USA
With an ad hoc approach to the placement of regulatory signs and a complex palette of sign types, the City of Chicago asked Two Twelve to develop comprehensive standards for the city’s public street signage. The new program essentials included parking regulations, street identifications, bus and taxi signage and directions to cultural attractions. The modular component system offered clarity to drivers looking for parking and for pedestrians using transport services. The placement standards enabled the city to significantly save money and reduce street clutter with fewer signs on a block.
