Las Vegas' first performing arts center, The Smith Center, is a $470 million dollar LEED-certified masterpiece designed by David M. Schwarz Architects and opened on March 10, 2012. The building takes its architectural inspiration from the Art Deco style of Hoover Dam, located just 30 miles away.  Working directly with the Center and Architect, Two Twelve developed a comprehensive interior and exterior wayfinding signage and donor recognition program. 

The Smith Center is home to the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Nevada Ballet Theatre, and host to traveling national and international events in music, dance, theater and education. We developed a wayfinding signage "kit-of-parts" to provide maximum flexibility for multiple uses. The Center's complex palette of materials and unique conditions challenged us to provide an effective visual thread of communication while responding to the richly detailed environment. For the Center's exterior, Two Twelve created a defining statement by cutting the building’s name directly into the Indiana Limestone fascia. A clean, modern, Art Deco-inspired typeface rendered in sustainable aluminum and glass was used for exterior and interior programming.
