Though Lincoln Center's New York State Theater was a hallowed place, the interior had grown shabby, with worn interior furnishings and haphazard outmoded signage. For the renovation, timed to a major gift and a new name for the theater, Two Twelve's created new signage that is refreshingly straightforward, in line with the original Philip Johnson design. Glowing, thin-stroked letters delineate the different tiers, directing visitors simply and cleanly to their seats. In conjunction with JCJ Architecture and Diller Scofidio + Renfro we helped transform the lobby from 'waiting room' to experience, complete with eye-catching translucent panels that foreshadow the glorious entertainment experience that awaits inside the theater.
