To boost public health, reduce congestion, and help people find their way around New York, the NYCDOT turned to Two Twelve. Our mission? To explore the way people walk through NYC's five boroughs--and transform it to an "experience." The resulting analysis concluded that traditional mapping markers (i.e. Manhattan's grid system) aren't as crucial to pedestrians as landmarks like Central Park and the Empire State Building. Using what we learned, we created I Walk New York, a Master Plan for pedestrian wayfinding.
