David Gibson, Founder Emeritus
Two Twelve is proud of what we have achieved since our founding in 1980. And, looking ahead, we are excited to explore new directions as we continue to excel in the disciplines where we are known as industry leaders. As founding principal David Gibson steps back, he entrusts Two Twelve’s next chapter to Ann Harakawa and a seasoned, experienced, wayfinding design team that is continuing to pioneer the people-focused integration of technology into its design solutions.
As one of the leaders of Two Twelve, David has helped nurture the careers of countless young graphic designers who have themselves made significant contributions to the field, both at Two Twelve and beyond. His remarkable three-decade partnership with Ann Harakawa is a compelling example of what can be achieved together with like minds.
David has regularly led workshops and given lectures on the discipline of wayfinding and information design at educational institutions and industry associations around the world. He is a past President and Board Member of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) and was named Fellow in 2009. He is also a former national board member of AlGA. For ten years, David served on the board of the Public Policy Lab, a New York design think tank that worked to improve the delivery of public sector services and was President of the Board of Trustees of Art House Productions, a visual and performing arts group that has been at the center of the creative community in Jersey City, New Jersey for two decades.
From the design studio that emerged from David’s vision, we are the grateful recipients of his creative genius, leadership, and endless support in all facets of Two Twelve over the past four decades.
