New York City Center
Two Twelve supported New York-based Ennead Architects in the 2012 restoration of New York City Center (NYCC), one of the city's most admired performing arts venues. Once the National Mecca Temple for the Shriners, the Center was adorned with elaborate mosaic walls, beautiful murals, and arabesque ceilings. Over time the Center was taken over by the City and most of the interior was painted white to ease maintenance. Two Twelve and Ennead worked to reverse the condition and develop new elements to support the visitor experience. Our three essential responsibilities? The exterior entrance, wayfinding and signage throughout the building, and the design of discreet, yet appropriate, donor recognition. Two Twelve thrilled the client by delivering work that is clean, creative, and true to the historic environment and nuanced character of the renovation.
