With eighteen buildings and over 40,000 visitors each day, Massachusetts General Hospital needed wayfinding and signage that was simple, universal, and easy to understand. Working alongside architects Stubbins Associates and Michael Field and Partners, Two Twelve designed a system built on the network of corridors and lobbies that unite the campus. We provided routes and stops like a mass transit system, using color-coding that assigned specific colors to each building and helped people locate their destinations while still on the ground floor. The program was so successful that we were engaged by the hospital and its architects to extend the system to the hospital's Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care.
