University of Connecticut
As UConn began several major construction projects in 2015, thanks in part to the State of Connecticut’s economic development mission, Two Twelve was engaged to design the school’s Wayfinding Manual, including a comprehensive wayfinding and signage program that would work for the entire university.
We then mobilized quickly to understand the wayfinding project by connecting with the Stakeholder Committee and promptly beginning an assessment of the existing wayfinding conditions across the academic campuses and UConn Health facilities. With deference to the UConn brand, we set out to create a simple, strong, and memorable signage design vocabulary that integrated the university’s visual identity, including brand, tone of voice, heritage, streetscape elements, landscape, and materials. The resulting designs help unify the user experience across the school’s highly varied campus environments.
